Beat The Summer Slide: Preventing Summer Loss

Updated: Apr 8, 2024

Yes... the summer slide is real. As the temperature rise and school doors close for the summer, many parents and educators are worried about the "summer slide." This is when a student lose about 2-3 months of learning they made during the school year. BUT THERE IS HOPE!

We can fight this in the summer...

Most summer camps are all about parks and popsicles. I would advise parents to look for a camp that incorporate academics and fun! This is the perfect combination! In my 5- week summer academy, we practice core reading and math skills while soaking up the summer sun! In addition, our summer academy includes a wide variety of reading and math activities that can be done at home too! Here's a list:

  1. Summer reading challenge: Set a goal for the number of books your child will read over the summer and track their progress with a chart or stickers.

  2. A Trip to the Library: Take regular trips to the library to borrow new books and participate in summer reading programs or activities.

  3. Delicious Dessert: Bake a cake to practice fractions, addition, and subtraction

  4. Let's go shopping: Take your child child shopping and let them practice addition, subtraction, multiplication and division!

Don't let the summer slide stop your child's academic progress. Our 5- week program is for YOU! This camp is for parents like you who want more than water guns and watermelon... they want learning to continue!

I'll see you in the summer!
